The first part of course is a discipline that provides students with knowledge and skills how to add and decompose forces in planar systems of converging forces and in planar systems of parallel forces, how to
Students study the principal problems of strength of materials: the analytic determination of internal forces in a simply supported beam and a cantilever, the determination of moments of inertia of planar figures, of stresses in members under pure bending and compression, as well as in ones under pure bending and under bending with tension and compression, the determination of elastic lines for simple structural members. Determinationof stresses in eccentric tension and compression.Determination of stresses in pure torsion and loss of stability.
In the seminars, students solve problems as relevant examples, illustrating the material taught in the lectures. Each student on their own prepares an individual course assignment, which helps develop their skills to put in practice the methods and concepts taught in the lectures.
Students have to do two tests during the semester.
