The material taught in part 1 and 2 of the “Architectural Structures” course provides students with the essential skills to design modern architectural structures, considering the requirements for modern construction systems, as well as those for roof structures over large open plan premises. It draws students’ attention to ecological issues, closely related to building production.
The course presents various frame building structures, as well as some specific for their execution ones, such as the method of multiple-point lift installation, or the use of wholly prefabricated units in building construction.
The course covers some textile architecture topics – pneumatic and tent structures.
Course assignment requirements:
To design open plan buildings with halls for various purposes, based on a given design scheme and construction system. The design must include the basement floor plan, a specific section, a roof plan, two elevations and at least two specific details.
