The subject "Aesthetics" includes a lecture course with discussions on a number of pre-selected examples of characteristic buildings, mainly in Sofia and other cities. The basic categories in aesthetics and their historical development, the development of types and genres of aesthetic are considered, as well as the system approach to the material environment and the specific role of architecture. The specifics of the aesthetic impact of the architecture and evaluation criteria are analyzed. The specific features of the various architectural "genres" are characterized. The structure of architectural composition and its role for the aesthetic impact is examined. The problems of contemporary architectural paradigm, aesthetic ideals, sociocultural dynamics, phenomena of style, fashion, vanguard, etc. are discussed.
