Introduction to building construction. Components of a building.Classification of buildings according to various criteria. Trends in modern building construction.
Building frames , construction systems and designs
Site preparation works.
Earth works. Excavation pit, foundation pit, shoring in different types of soil, shoring of excavation, sheet piling  ( wooden, RC, steel). Backfill.
Foundations. Shallow foundations. Foundations on a sloped terrain.
Deep foundations: pile foundations, wells, pile walls, caissons
Over-ground walls. Waterproofing of foundations and over-ground walls from ground moisture.
Waterproofing from underground water.
Walls – requirements, classification.Siding.
Natural stone walls.Brick walls.
Types of brick bonds.Columns.Chimneys. Fireplaces.
Walls made from mini blocks and glass.
Cast-in-situ walls. Types of formwork.Construction and heating technology issues.
Pre-fabricated walls. Large unit walls – execution of construction, elaboration of joints.
Large panel walls. Interior and exterior walls. – execution of construction, wall ties.
