The English language course is a ninety-hour compulsory course, taught during the two semesters of year1. Its main objective is the successful acquisition of special English as well as consolidation of knowledge and skills at level A2/B1, according to the Common European Framework, recommended by the Council of Europe. The course emphasis is on the communicative function of the language and its use in the authentic context of construction industry. Students are provided with a wide exposure to listening exercises - dialogues from the construction business everyday life, building terminology, writing e-mails, a CV and a covering letter, reading articles about construction innovations and famous buildings, as well as discussions on relevant topics. Supplementary online materials in English are extensively used.Thus, working in teams, students learn how to select, evaluate and summarize information. During beyond class scheduled time, students are to use Moodle at, where the lecturer will upload course assignments, provide links for extra materials and exercises, staying in touch with the students throughout the course.
