Main topics: The course aims to provide essential knowledge of the origin of architectural forms in prehistoric times, the development of architecture in early civilisations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Crete, Mycenae) and its evolution in Antiquity (Ancient Greece and Rome). The lectures encompass cult, public and residential architecture, town planning, building materials. Special attention is paid to typology, social orders, and to architectural composition.The comparative analysis method is applied.
