Main topics: Pre-fabricated walls made from strip partition panels – heavy-weight concrete, light-weight concrete, gypsum concrete etc..
Light-weight interior partition walls. Immobile pre-fabricated walls, constructed via layered assembly.
Mobile partition walls.
Wooden pre-fabricated walls.
Building elements related to walls. Chimneys – types, chimney vent pipes. Shafts and vertical channels for communication. Elevators.
Plastering and cladding. Painting. Wallpaper.
Skeleton frames.
Cast-in-situ and pre-cast building frames.
Steel frames.
Flooring. General characteristics. Classification.Requirements. Wooden and metal floor structures.Reinforced concrete floor structures:
a) cast-in-situ
b) precast and cast-in-situ
c) precast
Balconies, loggia balconies, bay windows, porches
Flooring surfaces – requirements. Classification.
Staircases – definition, components, requirements. Parametres and size. Wooden staircases
Construction of two-armed stairs. Cast in-situ and pre-cast reinforced concrete stairs.
Escalators and ramps. Ballustrades – requirements and materials.

Course assignments:

  1. Prefabricated panel walls. Connection. Wall expansion joints.
  2. Connection details in skeleton frame buildings
  3. Cast-  in-situ and pre-fabricated and monolithic floor structures.
  4. Pre-fabricated floor structures of elements, strip panels and big panels.
  5. Cast in-situ and precast reinforced concrete stairs. Wooden staircases.

Construction solutions and details.
The course project is a bungalow. Each student, provided with a set of reference and a planning scheme, has to develop the basic building elements independently, using an appropriate building technique. The building must be designed with a wooden framework.
Students have to employ at least two details of typical building elements and, if necessary, according to the assistant professor, a technological detail of the building construction technique, which is closely related to the architectural construction solution.
