Main topics: ABC of reinforced concrete; strength and deformation properties. Reinforcement – purpose, types. Stages of the stress state. Fundamentals of the admissible stress method, failure stage and limit states. Calculation of the longitudinal reinforcement of elements subjected to bending: general conditions, rectangular cross-section, cross-section of simple-way supported slab. Calculation and construction of slabs: one-way and two-way reinforced, supported on three sides; elastic methods and force redistribution methods. Calculation of shear reinforcement. Coverage of bending moment and shear force diagrams. Calculation and construction of primary and secondary beams. Dimensioning in torsion. Calculation and construction of columns: members with pure compression, eccentric compression and torsion with symmetric and asymmetric reinforcement. Determination of the curvature, deformations and rigidity of reinforced concrete cross-sections. Calculation of normal crack opening. Calculation and construction of concrete and reinforced concrete foundations. Prestressed reinforced concrete elements – general conditions, methods of prestressing, anchoring of the prestressed reinforcement, determining the stressing force and the geometrical characteristics of reduced sections, design for ultimate limiting states.
