Main topics: Building construction definition. Types of construction steels – characteristics and assortment. Basic methods for dimensioning of steel structures for centric and eccentric tension and compression, bending in the elastic and plastic stage. Connections in steel structures – welding, bolt and rivet connections. Beam structures. Columns – types, dimensioning and construction. Trusses – general characteristics, dimensioning, construction. Single storey steel framed structures - types. Roof and wall framing. Structure of top lighting. One-storey industrial buildings. Types of cranes and crane structures. Spatial stabilization of planar structures of buildings - with or without cranes and with different structure of the structural elements.
The Course Project represents a design of steel framed structure of a one-storey industrial building without bridge cranes and rooflights.
