Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: Can foreign nationals, who are not from EU countries, apply at VSU?
Answer: Foreign students, who are not from EU countries, are accepted based on their documents.
 
Question: Are the courses in Master's degree programme taught in English?
Answer: Students who have completed a Bachelor's degree in the field of civil engineering can continue their education for Master’s in English. "Architecture" will also be available in English soon.
 
Question: What are the tuition fees for students for Master's degree and what is the duration of the course?
Answer: Master's degrees are taught in Bulgarian so the students have to take a preparatory course in Bulgarian, and then study at VSU "Lyuben Karavelov".
 
Question: What are the deadlines for applying for the next academic year?
Answer:

  • Application deadline for the Bachelor programme in English (Civil Engineering): 30 July 2016.
  • The starting date of the Bachelor programme in English (Civil Engineering): 1 October 2016 (until then the candidates should have received visas and arrived in Bulgaria)
  • The deadline for enrolling in the Bachelor programme in English (Civil Engineering),  winter semester: October 30, 2016.
  • In case of more than 10 prospective students, who will surely be enrolled in a Bachelor's programme in English (Civil Engineering) a group will start on 1 February 2017 (summer semester).

Application deadline for the preparatory course in Bulgarian (for all other specialties taught in VSU "L. Karavelov"): 1 October 2016. (Preparatory course in Bulgarian lasts from December/January to September 2017.
Successful graduates receive a document for fluency in Bulgarian language and can be enrolled students at VSU in October 2017.)
 
Question: If the visa is refused, shall the fees be returned to the applicant?
Answer:

  • After the application, together with the set of documents, a document for the paid student fee-deposit of 50 BGN is sent to the applicant. It will be deducted from the tuition fee. If the applicant does not receive visa, this deposit will not be refunded.
  • The tuition fee is paid after the applicant has received a visa type "D" and after his arrival to Bulgaria.
