Exchange students (Erasmus Programme)
Who can apply?
Students from partner universities can apply within the ERASMUS Programme.
Application procedure
If you want to study at VSU as Erasmus student, just go to the International Relations Office of your home university or to the ERASMUS coordinator of your university, and ask whether there is signed a bilateral agreement between your home university and VSU.
Please, notify by e-mail or by fax the VSU’ International Relations Office for your intention to study at VSU as Erasmus student in order to receive the application form for exchange students, as well as the complete information concerning the enrolment procedure.
Please, ask the ERASMUS coordinator of your home university for assistance in the preparation of your individual programme of studies which you will follow at VSU and which must be agreed in writing between your home university, your host university and yourself (the Learning Agreement). There are possibilities at VSU for individual instruction and for working out course/final projects in English, German or French language.
After your application is considered and accepted, you will receive a letter of acceptance, in which details will be given about the beginning of the tuition. Only students whose names have been confirmed by their home university coordinator can be accepted to participation in the exchange programme.
Erasmus students don't pay university fees at VSU.
Application deadlines for exchange students:
For the Winter Semester: 15 August
For the Summer Semester: 15 February
We must receive your application before the last day of the deadline.
Foreign students for a full course of study (Individual Applicants) 
Who can apply?
Foreign nationals who possess a Diploma/certificate for completed secondary education, which gives them the opportunity to continue their education in the higher schools of the country in which they have obtained their secondary education.
Foreign nationals who have obtained the educational and qualification degree Bachelor or Master can apply for a Doctor’s Degree (PhD). Graduates from foreign higher schools can apply for Doctor’s degree after acknowledgement of their obtained higher education in accordance with the Ordinance on the state requirements for completed higher education in foreign higher schools, adopted by Decree No 168 of the Council of Ministers, 2002.
Application procedure:
Foreign nationals can apply for full Degree Programs at VSU directly to VSU’ Office of Academic Affairs.
VSU welcomes and gives individual consideration to all applications!
The language of instruction at VSU is Bulgarian, except the individual programs of studies designed for incoming exchange students to be held in English, German or French language. Applicants, whose native language is not Bulgarian, must either provide evidence of proficiency in Bulgarian or pass a 1-year preparatory course in Bulgarian language.

Note:
Those students who wish to move from VSU to other university after completed preparatory year, have to pay a fee to the amount of 500 BGN.
Important for applicants holding a dual nationality, one of it Bulgarian!
Persons with Bulgarian citizenship pay 50% of the tuition fee. The citizenship has to be certified through the proper channels, approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
