Location

VSU is situated in southwestern part of Sofia in an ecolologically clean area. Its buildings are situated on 106 decares of park terrain with beautiful view to Vitosha and Lyulin mountains.

School's Facilities

VSU possesses its own administrative buildings, education corps, cultural public premises (cinema hall, 3 student dormitories, a canteen for professors and students that offers lunch and dinner) and sports premises and facilities that form a completely equipped Campus with all the necessary conditions for education, scientific work, sport and recreation.

The School possesses modern facilities: lecture halls, specialized cabinets and over 15 specialized laboratories, a library, copy center, computer center with modern equipped computer halls and Internet connection.
Most of the School's facilities are equipped with school boards and models and they allow the use of all kind of representation technical devices – multimedia, OHP, video players, slide-projectors.

Nine of the specialized laboratories of VSU are united in a single complex Laboratory for testing inorganic and organic materials and products (LINOMI). The labs are equipped with modern school and scientific appliances that allows being performed scientific research and tests.

The Information providing in VSU“ L. Karavelov“ is maintained on a modern level. Since 1985 at the School operates a Computer Centre that is renewed all the time. It includes several computer halls with provided Internet access for the students and the professors. The other part of the computers is given to the different departments and sections of the School. At the Departments “Building Structures“ and “Construction Organization and Management“ are equipped specialized computer halls for education, for course and diploma projects. The computers used by the professors, students and the personnel and the ones in the computer complex are connected in a common school net structured on hierarchy levels and connected to the Internet.

The Library of VSU possesses rich book-stock of specialized and reference literature - books, encyclopedias, periodicals, manuals and normative documents, videotapes and compact discs. In the book-stock there can be found extremely rare issues of specialized scientific-technical literature in Bulgarian and in English.

Since 2004 at the School functions a “Conformity Assessment and Bulgarian Technical Approval” Sector (CA and BTA sector). The Sector is licensed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRRB) and in the sector is made assessments of the conformity of the construction products for the substantial requirements according the Regulation for the substantial requirements and assessment of the conformity of the construction products.

On the campus of the School there are cafeterias, minimarkets, book shops, its own guarded parking.

VSU offers possibilities for active sports for the students and the professors in a covered sports base with dimensions 15/50 m, fitness room with total size 150 m2, sport playgrounds for basketball, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, football stadium and athletics track. For those wishing to engage in skiing and swimming, there are organized training courses annually.
